Approach to tutoring
Mackenzie’s approach to tutoring is flexible and tailored to the specific needs of each student. He believes in both developing a passion and skill in the subject, as well as preparing students for the challenging pressures that examinations and assessments provide. Lessons with Mackenzie are designed collaboratively between Mackenzie and the student. Mackenzie’s experience and insight into the subject allow him to accurately evaluate the student’s strengths and weaknesses, and he adapts the structure and style of his lessons to match these strengths and weaknesses. Furthermore, he always listens to the students and gives them flexibility in what they would like to achieve through their tutoring, and designs goals according to the student’s aims.
Mackenzie balances developing a strong foundation in the subject with practical advice for maximising his students’ performance in formal assessments. He draws from his passion for science and maths to make lessons highly engaging and interesting, while also utilising his strong academic results at school and at University to give students strategic advice on how to improve their study and exam techniques. These together allow his students to enjoy their studies as much as possible, while also boosting their marks and results at school.
